The Indian subcontinent was shaken by the devastating earthquake on 8th October 2005. Muaffrabad, the capital city of Pak-occupied Kashmir was the worst hit and it was reduced entirely to rubble. Thousands of innocent people lost their lives in the earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale. Kupwara, Baramula, Tangdhar, Uri areas were badly affected. A pall of gloom descended over the entire area.
Keeping up it motto selfless service to humanity, Dera Sacha Sauda Sirsa Haryana (India) extended its helping hand to the suffering masses. Several truck loads of relief materials were sent in the first installment along with the dedicated volunteers of Shah Satnam Singh Ji Green-S-Welfare Force Society. The courageous members of this force trekked through the treacherous terrain for ten days to personally distribute the articles to the needy people. The material was supplied to 3868 families. It comprised of over 20- tones or Rice, 5 tones of pulses, 5 tones of sugar, 2000 blankets, 5 tones of Salt, 1250 crates Biscuits, 5000 Bottles of Mineral water, hundreds of Tents, Carpets etc. The people and the administration expressed enormous gratitude to His HolinessHazoor Pita Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji for the timely help which massively relieved their suffering. The artificial borders of caste, creed, religion or geography do not deter the intrepid.
