THOUGHT OF THE DAY

Dera Sacha Sauda is a socio-spiritual organization that preaches and practices humanitarianism and selfless services to others. The main centre of the ashram is located in Sirsa (northern India). More than forty million people around the world are faithful followers of the organization. Dera’s devotees learn to meditate and follow the principles laid down by Dera.

His Holiness Beparawah Mastana Ji Maharaj founded Dera Sacha Sauda on April 29th, 1948 to encourage spiritual awakening among the masses, to uplift humanity, and to create a better world. HE hailed from Baluchistan, part of present-day Pakistan. With devotion and hard work, Maharaj Ji transmuted the barren land of Sirsa into a spiritual garden and imparted the glorious method of meditation to HIS followers. The slogan “Dhan Dhan Satguru Tera Hi Asra,” which Dera’s devotees chant at the Ashram, elucidates the kindness of God Almighty as our saviour. His Excellency Guruji preached about following the path of truth, humanity, and hard work. In 1960, HE handed over the reins of Dera to HIS spiritual successor, Param Pita Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj. Mastana Ji Maharaj merged with the divine light on April 18th, 1960.

Param Pita Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj made the ground of Sri Jalalana Sahib a holy site by incarnating Himself there on January 25th 1919. His Holiness served mankind for thirty years (1960-1990) and enlightened many people on the path to emancipation by showering the blessings of Gurumantra upon them. HE composed myriad hymns and wrote several holy books.

At Dera Sacha Sauda, marriages without dowry are endorsed and solemnized with parental consent. Apart from this, people get inspired here to connect with the true Almighty God without any special arrangements, rituals or gimmicks. His Exalted Holiness passed the Divine apostleship of Dera Sacha Sauda to revered Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan on September 23rd, 1990. Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj shed His human attire and proceeded back to "Nij-Dham" (eternal abode) on December 13th 1991.

Most revered Hazoor Pita Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan glorified the vicinity of Shri Gurusar Modia (District SriGanganagar, Rajasthan) and made it the most hallowed place by incarnating Himself as a human being on August 15th, 1967.

Dera Sacha Sauda’s

Naam-Shabd

* Cures physical ailments.

* Rids worries and stresses.

* Makes one a cheerful person in body, mind and spirit.

* Brings success in life’s endeavours.

* Helps one be the master of one’s thoughts.

* Leads one deep into one’s consciousness.

* Connects one with God.

On what it is?

The Naam-Shabd is a set of mystic words that praise and invoke God. The constant remembrance of and regular meditation on the Naam-Shabd leads one deep into one’s own consciousness and delivers one to the God who resides inside each one of us. Naam-Shabd meditation is a simple yet powerful way of stilling one’s body, emotions and mind; integrating them as a unit; and aligning them with God. Every session of Naam-Shabd meditation brings with it an experience of inner peace and tranquility that cannot be described in words. Before long one perceives God’s sound and light and in the process becomes aware of the true purpose of one’s life. The Naam-Shabd is the bridge between one’s individual soul and God.

On what it requires?

Naam-Shabd meditation is a simple and practical way of connecting with God. Each one of us can practice it irrespective of our gender, age, caste, creed, race, nationality or religion. The Guru while initiating an individual asks that he/she give up alcohol, non-vegetarian food, and immorality. Besides these there are no other restrictions of any kind on the individual. After initiation one needs to spend 15-60 minutes in the morning and the same in the evening daily in meditation, besides repeating the Naam-Shabd silently with one’s tongue or inside one’s mind whenever possible.

On its benefits?

We human beings are mines of potentialities and capabilities that have never been drawn forth from the realm of the subconscious into objective usefulness. Through Naam-Shabd meditation these inherent powers unfold normally and naturally. One of the first effects of the meditation is an increased self-confidence and efficiency in one’s daily life, be it at home, the office, or any other place. This increased efficiency brings with it success in every endeavor that one embarks upon.

Naam-Shabd meditation reduces stress and develops a sense of peace, joy, and strength within oneself. Scientific tests have shown that it strengthens one’s immune system and keeps one healthy. At the level of consciousness, it awakens one’s intuition, opens one’s heart, and helps one flush out negative emotions.

Naam-Shabd meditation is a proven alternative therapy for not just common ailments but also incurable diseases. Many prominent doctors of our country not only recommend this meditation for their patients but are also practitioners of this meditation themselves. They recommend this as a way to lower blood pressure, help people with asthma breathe easier, relieve restlessness, and to generally relax the stresses of everyday life.

The Naam-Shabd not only helps us live a happy, healthy and content life but also ultimately delivers us to our Creator God.

On the Guru?

The role of the Guru is very important in Naam-Shabd meditation. The Guru has already journeyed on the spiritual path of the Naam-Shabd and found his destination: God. Hence, he thoroughly knows the path and is capable of guiding the disciple from within so that he does not lose his way in the various spiritual planes that are stages on the path. Thus, it is only the God-realized soul who can be a Guru. Such a one possesses the qualities of God Himself. He teaches that God is one and all religions talk of the same God. For him all humankind are the children of God and hence he does not discriminate among people on the basis of caste, creed, race, religion, etc. He earns his living through hard work and righteous means and does not live on charity. And most importantly, he practices what he preaches and is a leader by example.

Who is God?

God is the Supreme Power who has created the universe and yet resides in every particle of it including man. Everything in the universe and everything that man perceives through his senses is perishable at one time or the other, but God is the only entity that is eternal and unchangeable. God is the source from which we have all come and He is our ultimate destination, whether we consciously believe in this or not. The fact that God cannot be perceived through our senses does not mean that He does not exist. Just like there is fragrance in flowers and butter in milk and these can be extracted through specific methods, God resides inside every human being and can be realized by following the method instructed by the Guru.

Who is a Guru?

The Sanskrit word Guru stands for the being who leads an individual from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge. A Guru in the spiritual sense is a God-realized soul who has the capacity to help an individual realize God. A Guru perhaps is the only one who can make one realize that God is not just an idea but an entity who can be perceived as tangibly as one perceives the world with one’s senses. A Guru is a ruler of the spiritual world and has the ability to accelerate or decelerate one’s spiritual progress depending on whether one’s actions are righteous or sinful. A Guru has already walked the path that has led him to God and thus is equipped to lead others on the path.

Guru and God?

There has never been a time on this earth when there was no Guru or prophet. Gurus incarnate at every age to show men the path that leads to God. All religions are proof of the fact God can be realized only through the Guru. In Indian philosophy the Guru holds a position equal to God. In fact, the loving disciple says that he does not care about God because it was the Guru who answered his prayers and showed him the way and not God. The law of nature is such that it is only through the Guru that man can connect with God. History is witness to the fact that people who trusted their minds and their intellectual capacities to find God had to stumble at every step and had to eventually meet with failure. This is because God resides beyond the mind while all thoughts come under the boundaries of the mind. This is why all religions exhort man to surrender to the will of the Prophet or Guru, because his will is God’s will.

Why Serve Humanity?

Humanitarianism is the only true religion. Because all mankind are the children of God and there can be nothing more virtuous in the eyes of God than serving His children in a selfless manner. In the human context, when a child is saved from danger by a stranger, the father invites the stranger home and serves him and thanks him profusely for having saved the life of his beloved child. In the same manner when a person shares in the grief of another or saves him from danger or helps him in his need, God showers His blessings and grace on him for having served His child. This is why working for the welfare of others is an act of great virtue in spirituality. The more we think of others and work for their well-being, the more we rise above our individual egos and the closer we move towards God.

Dera Sacha Sauda has added four new world records to its name.
