Air pollution is a severe problem in every town, city and country. Whether one is concerned about global warming or not, trees are one of the most effective ways to remove carbon from the air and supply oxygen to the atmosphere. Now-a-days, trees are vanishing at a very fast speed due to urbanization and development. There is an urgent need to plant more trees in order to save our nature and mother earth. This is a mandatory requirement for all of us to plant trees and nurture them for the coming generation, which gives satisfaction, mental peace, and a sense of well-being. One should not only appreciate the aesthetic value of trees but also consider the utilitarian benefit. Considering the same and following the holy sermons of Revered Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, the volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda have been planting trees on regular basis. They have recorded their names several times in Guinness Book of World Records for planting trees. In the same series, Palmerston North City Council awarded the volunteers of Dera Sacha Sauda, Newzealand with appreciation certificate on 23rd October 2014 for Tree Plantation. This letter of appreciation was presented by John Breaken Lew, Manager (Property and Park, City Council) and Morcee Clark, Chairperson (Pit Park) and Jeff Baker. They conveyed their appreciation to DSS volunteers. The volunteers had planted more than 4000 plants and for this they received a token thank you gift. Noteworthy, DSS has received various accolades and appreciation for rendering other Humanitarian Activities also.
