Movement Against Prostitution

Movement Against Prostitution  - Nowadays, it's a dream of every girl to get married in a good, reputed family and living a stable life. Unfortunately, there are quite a few girls who are not benefitted to live this respectable life and can only daydream about marriage.

Such girls are none other than the sex workers living in the dark and shabby areas across our country. In this trade, most of them are trapped due to circumstances and some due to helplessness, that too against their will.

Sex workers commonly face significant stigma-related barriers regardless of where they work, due to their perceived violation of gendered norms through sex with multiple partners and strangers, taking sexual initiative and control, inciting male desires, and receiving fees for sex.

Revered Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan, the spiritual head of Dera Sacha Sauda, a multi-religious organization, realized the pain these girls undergo, and adopted them as his own daughters, thus integrating them with the mainstream society by giving the title of Shubh Devi.

Not only that, the Saint ensured and also took the initiative to secure them with a life worth living.

Answering his call, about hundreds of young, well-settled men volunteered to marry these girls. Furthermore, the Revered Saint acknowledged their service by giving them the tag of Bhakt Yodhas.

On 9th November 2009, the Revered Saint began this much-needed initiative at the Shah Satnam Ji Ashram, Barnava (Uttar Pradesh) and to the surprise, Lakhs of hands went up to his support.

More than 1500 young men agreed to marry girls who wanted to leave the life of prostitution and wished to get assimilated in mainstream society. At the same time, there were also lakhs more who took a stand to get them married off like they would marry off their own sisters.
