TRIBAL MARRIAGES

Dera Sacha Sauda has done pioneering work to integrate tribals into mainstream society. Dera is trying to provide an emancipated society by emancipating the neglected people into awareness and self sufficiency.

The tribals staying about 50 kilometers far from Udaipur in Kotra and areas around have been always a dangerous concern for people and police. In 2001 Dera Sacha Sauda started an initiative to reform the life of these people. Looting people, consuming alcohol, meat were common place. Even during the day time people were afraid to enter that area. Every day the police used to hear of murder and mayhem. The administration was not able to reform the area. The superstitions that were in vogue precluded reform. Child marriage and extra marital relationship were customary. There was a bizarre custom of marriage. Consuming alcohol, eating meat and violent fights were a common practice. Youth used to be engaged in sexual relationships before marriage and used to get married only after having children, and then have multiple partners. Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan made them aware about the importance of marriage. Guruji inspired them to stay away from promiscuity and also to refrain from eating meat and consuming alcohol. Due to Guruji's grace conditions have changed beyond recognition now. The initiative which was started to integrate the tribals has borne fruit. With Guruji's intervention, the institution of marriage has been established in the correct form. Every year, hundreds of couples come to Dera Sacha Sauda and become a part of this initiative started by Guruji. They follow the marriage ritual without any superstitious or illogical customs. In the presence of Guruji, Dera followers provide all necessary domestic items to all newly married couples to start their life.
