WATER FACILITY

Water for the Thirsty

Water is a divine blessing which forms the very basis of existence. And in Indian culture, it is considered nearly sacred to offer water to the thirsty. In tune with tradition, the Dera members leave no stone unturned in serving the passersby during the hot summer months. Especially during drought, Dera Sacha Sauda members mobilize their resources on a massive scale to help. Kiosks are set up in busy areas in public places where the needy are served without any discrimination. Water is the very basis of life. And the followers of Dera Sacha Sauda consider it their sacred duty to provide it to those who are in need. Ever since, Dera Sacha Sauda was started in 1948, by Shah Mastana Ji, Dera members were using simple pitchers to serve waters to passersby. But with changing times, the means have evolved further. Today, the Dera followers organized drinking water kiosks and coolers at public places, so that those thirsty can quench their thirst. This includes railway stations, bus stands, busy streets etc. Wherever, there is shortage of water, massive tankers are rushed to rescue. The desert State of Rajasthan survived six successive years of drought on the help provided by selfless Dera volunteers. There have been instances where people even in remote Andamans and Kashmir have received the precious gift of water from the Dera.

Heartfelt Thanks

Village Dhanora Lohara of District Rajouri of Jammu & Kashmir was facing the water-deficiency from the last 15 years. When the villagers mentioned this to revered Guruji then their long standing problem was solved just within 5 days. On 26 October 2009, Dera Sacha Sauda followers reached Dhanora Lohara village and on 30 October, they solved the water scarcity of the villagers by installing a Submersible Pump at a height of 1600 feet. On this, the 58 villagers, along with the village panchayat, visited Dera Sacha Sauda to thank Guruji. In the words of Meer Hussain, one of the villagers,

"I have never seen such a mission before who helps others without any selfish motive. From the last 15 years, our village was suffering from water-shortage, which was not even solved by the government. Respected Guruji considered us as his children and solved our problem. We thank Guruji from the core of our hearts."
